Activity Team Member - Volunteer

Help young people build confidence, skills and unforgettable memories outdoors.

At Cudham Shaws Outdoor Centre we believe adventure changes lives. From archery ranges to tomahawk throwing, our activities help young people challenge themselves, work as a team and try something new in a safe and supportive environment.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteers to join our Activity Team and help deliver exciting instructor-led sessions for Scouts, Guides, schools and youth organisations visiting the site.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, loves the outdoors and wants to be part of a friendly and growing team. Whether you already hold one qualification or several, we would love to hear from you.


The Role

As a Volunteer Activity Team Member, you will lead engaging activity sessions for groups of up to 12 young people, typically lasting around one hour. Sessions will mainly be for Scout and Guide groups, with occasional school and other youth group bookings.

You will help create a positive and energetic atmosphere where young people feel encouraged, challenged and supported while taking part in activities.

Activities may include:

  • Archery

  • Tomahawk Throwing

  • Air Rifle Shooting

  • Other onsite activities as developed

There will also be opportunities to expand your skills and cross-qualify in additional activities over time.


We’re Looking For People Who:

  • Hold at least one of the following qualifications:

    • Archery GB Instructor Award

    • NSRA YPS Tutor / Instructor qualification

    • Tomahawk course with log book

  • Are enthusiastic, energetic and approachable

  • Enjoy motivating and inspiring young people

  • Can confidently lead groups in a safe and engaging way

  • Are reliable and work well as part of a team

  • Are passionate about outdoor learning and adventure activities

  • Want to help develop and improve the visitor experience at Cudham Shaws


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering safe, fun and engaging activity sessions

  • Supervising groups of up to 12 participants

  • Encouraging teamwork, confidence and personal development

  • Carrying out equipment checks and assisting with maintenance

  • Helping maintain activity areas and stores

  • Supporting the development of new activities and programme ideas onsite

  • Working alongside the wider site and volunteer team

  • Promoting excellent customer service to visiting groups

  • Following all safety procedures, activity rules and safeguarding policies

Located in the Kent countryside, Cudham Shaws Outdoor Centre welcomes Scouts, Guides, schools and youth groups from across London and the South East. The site offers a wide range of adventurous activities, camping facilities and indoor accommodation designed to help young people learn, grow and explore the outdoors.
