Media & Content Team Member - Volunteer

Requirements

Help tell the story of adventure at Cudham Shaws.

At Cudham Shaws Outdoor Centre, every campfire, activity session and muddy adventure creates memories that last a lifetime. We are looking for creative and enthusiastic volunteers to help capture those moments and share the incredible experiences happening across the site.

From weekend camps and activities to large events and volunteer projects, our Media & Content Team helps showcase the energy, adventure and community spirit that makes Cudham Shaws special.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys photography, social media, content creation or marketing and wants to use their creativity to support young people and outdoor adventure.

The Role

As a Volunteer Media & Content Team Member, you will help create engaging digital content that promotes Cudham Shaws Outdoor Centre and the experiences we provide for Scouts, Guides, schools and youth organisations.

Much of the role can be completed remotely and flexibly around your availability, including creating social media posts, editing photos or videos, planning campaigns and supporting online communications.

There will also be opportunities and expectations to attend busier weekends, events and activity days onsite to gather fresh content, capture photos and videos and help showcase the amazing experiences happening across the centre.

No two weekends are ever the same — one day you may be capturing tomahawk throwing sessions and campfires, while another could involve filming an event, promoting volunteering opportunities or creating content for upcoming activities.

We’re Looking For People Who:

  • Are creative, enthusiastic and full of ideas

  • Enjoy photography, video creation or social media

  • Have good communication and storytelling skills

  • Are confident creating engaging online content

  • Want to help promote opportunities for young people

  • Can work independently while also being part of a team

  • Enjoy being around outdoor adventure and youth activities

  • Are friendly, approachable and professional when onsite

Experience with platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or Canva is helpful but not essential — enthusiasm and creativity are just as important.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Creating engaging social media content for the centre

  • Capturing photos and videos during activities and events

  • Promoting camps, activities, volunteering and events online

  • Helping grow the centre’s online presence and engagement

  • Supporting marketing campaigns and promotional projects

  • Creating reels, graphics, posters or short videos

  • Sharing the stories and achievements of young people and volunteers

  • Working alongside the wider volunteer and operations teams

  • Helping maintain a positive and professional online image for the centre

Flexible & Creative Volunteering

This role is designed to be flexible and can predominantly be carried out remotely, making it ideal for volunteers balancing work, studies or other commitments.

However, some of the best content comes from being part of the action onsite. Volunteers will therefore be encouraged to attend busier weekends, events and activity days throughout the year to help capture the true atmosphere and adventure of Cudham Shaws.

It’s a brilliant opportunity to combine creativity with outdoor adventure while helping inspire future visitors and volunteers.

What We Offer

  • Flexible volunteering around your availability

  • Opportunities to build media, marketing and creative skills

  • Real-world experience creating content for a busy outdoor centre

  • The chance to develop photography, video and digital marketing experience

  • A fun and supportive volunteer team

  • Opportunities to attend exciting events and activities

  • The chance to help inspire thousands of young people through adventure
