Shop Team Member - Volunteer

Requirements

Help create a welcoming and exciting experience for every visitor.

At Cudham Shaws Outdoor Centre, our onsite shop is a popular stop for young people and leaders visiting the centre. Whether it’s snacks after activities, campsite essentials or a friendly chat, the shop plays an important part in the visitor experience.

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to join our Shop Team, predominantly supporting Saturdays and Sundays during busy camping weekends and events.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting people, working in a busy environment and being part of a friendly outdoor centre community.

The Role

As a Volunteer Shop Team Member, you will help run the onsite shop during weekends and busy periods, serving visiting Scouts, Guides, schools and youth groups.

You will be one of the friendly faces young people and leaders interact with during their stay, helping create a welcoming atmosphere while providing excellent customer service.

The role includes operating our SumUp till system, handling both cash and card payments, managing stock and helping keep the shop clean, organised and well presented.

No previous retail experience is required — full training on the till system and shop procedures will be provided.

  • Enjoy working with young people and volunteers

  • Have good numeracy and money handling skills

  • Are comfortable using a till and card payment system

  • Can accurately handle cash and issue change

  • Are reliable and able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Can stay calm and organised during busy periods

  • Want to contribute to a positive visitor experience onsite
